This is the story of how the bluebird saga began that led to the writing of the book, The Bluebird Journals: True Stories of God’s Sweetness: A Devotional and Journal. It’s a wonderful start to a beautiful story.
Our Bluebird Story: Proof of God’s Faithfulness, Part One
“Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice.”
1 Samuel 15:22 NASB
She obeyed, and it changed my life.
After being a divorced, single parent for about three years, I felt a growing urge to move back to my home state of Kentucky after ten years in Arkansas. That spring, I attended a women’s spiritual retreat called Walk to Emmaus. On Saturday night, during a time of prayer, one of the leaders knelt beside me and quietly said God had impressed on her heart to share her story with me.
She knew I was hoping to relocate and start over in a new place—perhaps even find love again. Her story was about God’s permission to remarry.
She told me that after her husband of many decades had died, she began dating a good Christian man. “I wanted to marry him if it was part of God’s plan for me,” she said. “I had always thought of bluebirds as a sign of happiness, so I asked God to show me one if I had His blessing to remarry. Soon after, I opened the patio drapes, and there, on the snowy lawn of an Arkansas December, was an entire flock.”She married her sweetheart, and they were as happy as the birds themselves. Her testimony became the catalyst for my ongoing bluebird story of God’s faithfulness.

Point to Ponder
Ponder: If that faithful servant had not obeyed and shared her story, my life would not be so blessed. When God prompts you to speak or act, don’t hesitate. You may not see the ripple effects now—but one day, you will understand them fully in heaven.
